Case Description
My wife was in a serious accident a couple of years ago which resulted in fractured mandible, loss of teeth,...Her mouth was wired shut, cracked teeth removed, etc. In her recovery she has had two implants and many root canals, restorations, etc. During a recent exam, the oral surgeon noticed that 4 of her teeth that were in the fractured part of her jaw and had subsequent root canals appear to be infected. He has referred her to endodontist for apicoectomies. We have moved from location where orginal work was done and there is only one endo. in town. She is terrified after all the work done from the accident. She does not want to lose these teeth! Is this a basic procedure where the endodontist's experience is not a major concern? Would you recommend driving 1.5 hrs. to the university (KC) dental school to have a teaching instructor (not student) do the work? I want the best for her. She would be traumatized to lose these teeth. Thanks.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.
